Spice Blends

He has always experimented with spices in the kitchen and loves the way the signature Phoenicia Foods spice blends have become go-to staples in the pantries of many in the community. Italian can be sprinkled on pizzas, used as a chicken marinade or beautifully topped on quality olive oil for dipping! The Mid East is YUMMY! atop tangy labne (yogurt dip) or hummus. Greek perfect on tzatziki yogurt.

Pita and Handmade Phoenicia Flatbreads

Mom loves the smell of fresh bread in the morning (who doesn’t!)! Our trademark pita bread coming down each morning from the fantastical conveyer belt into bags for customers to enjoy. Approximately, 40,000 to 50,000 loaves of pita goodness are produced each day! Similarly, the Lebanese flatbread topped with Zaatar (Thyme) Blend and Ackawi cheese reminds her of breakfast in Beirut as a child!

Lahmajun: Amazing Armenian Pizza

A delicious take on pizza, traditional spiced beef Lahmajun should be enjoyed with a squeeze of lemon on top plus garnishes like olives, mint, green onion, and tomato. Best rolled into a quasi-sandwich and toasted to a slight crisp. Try the vegetarian version, equally as YUMMY!

Subtlety Sweet Tahini Roll

A family favorite also hailing from Lebanon, this flakey layered roll is rich and delightful when dipped into coffee or tea. The sweet tahini aroma when freshly baked is something to experience and enjoy on every visit to Phoenicia’s bakery!

Zohrab’s Chai Tea Blend

Whenever I invite company to my home, I always offer my father’s tea blend, a family tradition. Black Ceylon tea blended with cinnamon sticks, all spice and peppercorns. Well rounded, aromatic, savory and sweet. Brings back memories of special tea time with family and friends with a plentiful meze table of perfectly sliced cheeses, meats, olives, pickles, fresh garden veggies served with perfectly spiced tea with a touch of honey.

Puff the Pita
“Phoenicia has a pita production set up that would make Willy Wonka jealous.”
— SAMANTHA BROWN, HOST OF PBS’S TV SHOW “PLACES TO LOVE”
“With their product base, it's the only place I can get certain things. I especially like the haloumi and homemade pitas. While I love old favorites like cheesy pita bread, cabbage ecstasy, string cheese and Haig’s chili, the thrill of finding, seeing or tasting something completely new is what makes Phoenicia a perfect fit for Houston.”
— Susanne Theis, Programming Director for Discovery Green Conservancy
“I’ve been known to wander the aisles of the now sprawling west-side Phoenicia market, with its big Arpi’s deli attached, for hours. Jaw agape, filling my cart with things familiar and things I didn’t even know existed.”
— Alison Cook, Restaurant Critic for The Houston Chronicle
“We loved Phoenicia when stopping at the original location on Westheimer, and love it even more having it Downtown! There’s great food, great vibes, and keep-the-homesickness-away groceries! We love the mezze, olives and olive oil.”
— “Chef G” Benchawan Jabthong Painter, James Beard Award winner for Best Texas Chef and Graham Painter of Street To Kitchen
